It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Judith Marie Thompson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who left this world on April 8, 2025, at the age of 82. Judith was born on June 17, 1942, in North Dakota, grew up in Madison, WI and she lived a life dedicated to her family and her community.
Judith attended Madison East High School and devoted many years serving as a bus driver, earning the respect and admiration of those she transported. She was known for her kind heart, warm smile, and unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of her passengers.
Judith is survived by her loving spouse, Terry Thompson; her daughters, Kim (Ron) Jackelen, Jody (Nate) Rahn and step-son, Chad (Paula) Thompson. She cherished her role as a grandmother to her grandchildren: Angela Brenna, Cristina Holzer, Lacey (Anthony) Sandow, Miranda (Adam) Mewes, and Rachael Rahn; step-grandchildren, Lindsay, Nicholas; and six great-grandchildren. Judith was preceded in death by: parents, Christian and Olga Onsum; daughter, Gina Sandifer; siblings, Ellen Fitzgerald, Chuck Onsum, and Cindy Dorr.
In honor of Judith’s life and contributions, cremation will take place, and the family will hold a visitation to celebrate her life on Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 10 am – 12 pm at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services 728 S Knowles Avenue New Richmond, WI. Family and friends are invited to join in remembering and honoring Judith’s life, sharing stories and the joy she brought to all who knew her.
Judith Marie Thompson will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched throughout her life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Five Loaves Food Shelf in New Richmond in Judith’s memory. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

Without a doubt, she was one of my favorite people! All of us who know and love her are better because she was a part of our life I will be forever grateful that I was blessed to her my friend. Peace comfort and love to all of you!
I am so sorry to see that Judy has passed away. I’ve been doing Judy’s hair the last couple years and certainly enjoyed our visits when she came into the salon. Super sweet lady!!
