Ralph Keith Hawkins passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2025. He was born on September 23rd, 1936, in Clear Lake, WI to parents Norman and Georgia Hawkins where he was raised on the family farm and graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1955.
Ralph was married to Ruth Ann Hawkins (Pickard). They moved to California when Ralph was enlisted in the Army where he worked as an automotive mechanic. After Ralph’s discharge from the Army, they settled in Star Prairie to raise their family.
He worked most of his life at Ammerman Company in Stillwater, MN. He also worked a variety of jobs including transporting cattle by train, operating the North Star gas station in Star Prairie, where he built his race car that he raced at Cedar Lake and other local tracks, a police officer for St. Croix County and the Village of Star Prairie. After retiring from Ammerman he drove bus for St Croix Industries.
Ralph could often be found playing cards at the local establishments, watching NASCAR the Packers, Brewer’s and Twins. He enjoyed sitting in his yard and chatting with his neighbors. He also loved to cut it up on the dance floor from time to time.
Ralph is preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Georgia; his sister, Vicky Frederickson and brother LaVerne Hawkins; brothers-in-law, Roger Peterson and Martin Schwan and former wife, Ruth Ann Hawkins-Snyder.
He is survived by his children, Randy Hawkins, Rodney (Linda) Hawkins with grandson Tyler (Hunter) Hawkins, granddaughter Emily (Ty) Hawkins, Renee Kobs with grandson Josh Kobs with great granddaughter Violet, granddaughter Hannah (Ryan) Neiss with great grandson Wyatt; siblings, Vinita (Don) Essen, Darlene (Darrell) Emerson, Bonnie Schwann, Bette (Larry) Peterson, Norman Jr. (Ann) Hawkins, Diane (Art) Seeger along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration Of Life was held on Saturday, April 12th, 2025, at the Friendly Bar in Star Prairie from 1:00 – 4:00 pm. Private family interment will be in East Lincoln Cemetery, Amery Wisconsin.
Cremation services provided by Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

He was a great neighbor and a good man. Rest in peace Ralphie. Will miss seeing you outside and our daily wave.
We loved Ralph. We played cards with him for more than 20 years. He always had a story, “Well, I guess I’m gonna have to call ya…” And not just in those moments but all the time. We were always excited to see him in the neighborhood at the grocery store or at a restaurant and a delight to be seated with him at a card table. We are so sad to see him go. We hope you are comforted by the laughter and love. So sorry for your loss.
