Howard was a great long time friend had a great family you be missed ❤️
He was a very nice man and will be missed.
Rest in Peace Mr. Nelson. I was able to play little league baseball because of the league he started. Great memories. Howie was a very good man!
Howie and his wife raised a great family. Like others I am sure, I remember Howie’s immense contribution to little league baseball in River Falls. In the final months of his life he lived where my mom currently lives so I was able to see him when I visited her. Rest in Peace, Howie.
Such a great man and coach! I remember playing for him in one of those “Stars Of Tomorrow” tourneys in LaCrosse; it was such a great experience! RIP to an RF legend. My condolences to the family.
My condolences on your loss of a very loved man. Keep his legacy alive.
Howie was a great coach and better man during our ‘formative’ years in the 70s. It helped this RF newcomer acclimate and appreciate life and living with new adventures and challenges. Prayers to the entire Nelson family – my memories are cherished, and Howie was a big part of them.
Butcha
My family moved to River Falls in 1970 and my two brothers and I immediately reaped the benefits of Howie starting youth hockey and baseball programs in RF just a year or two before we arrived. As I’ve learned over the years, Howie and other RF legends like him had a long list of accomplishments that ranged from their military service to their country to their service and commitment to being civic leaders in their community. These men were dedicated to their families and they didn’t feel the need to be honored or recognized for their many accomplishments. The Farley family had the good fortune to become friends with Howie, Arlene and all of the Nelson children. You will be in our thoughts and prayers.
Thanks for your kind words Steve. It was great to spend time with your family as well. Our Dads did a lot of good things for the youth of our community and university. Please say hi to Dave, Mike and Rae. Our fathers are missed. 🙏
Howie and Arlene were two great individuals who raised a wonderful family. He certainly will be missed.
