Leslie “Bud” Duden 04/01/2013

Leslie Fredrick John Duden, “Budage 90 of Maiden Rock, died on Monday, April 1, 2013 at the Plum City Care Center.  Leslie was born the son of Lawrence and Johanna (Gleason) Duden on March 4, 1923 in Wabasha County, Minnesota.  He grew up in the Lake City and Oak Center area of Wabasha County.  On August 24, 1946, Leslie married Clara Hillesheim.  They lived in Lake City and Red Wing before moving to Ellsworth in 1957.  In 1964 they moved to Maiden Rock.  Leslie farmed and worked at feed mills in Red Wing and Grange Hall.  He was a horseman his entire life and in later years enjoyed going on weekend horse rides and parades.  He liked to snowmobile and was always tinkering with something.  Leslie was a prankster who enjoyed socializing with family and friends.  He was always presentable and respectful.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Johanna Duden; wife, Clara Duden; granddaughter, Wendy Heath; brothers, Alvin, Norman, Harry, Harley and Elmer Duden; and sister, Janice Plank.  He is survived by his children, Jim Duden, Jerry (Lucy) Duden, and Jackie (Melissa) Duden; grandchildren, Jim Duden, Jr., Ture (Lisa) Duden, Jeff Duden, Jerry (Jill) Duden, Jr., Leslie (Bill) Dietsch, Heidi (Chris) Poole, Brian Brown, Ashley Duden, Ben Duden; 20 great-grandchildren; brother, LeRoy Duden; sisters, Gladys, Marion (Arnold), Florence, Delores (David), Darlene (Phil); and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  A Funeral Service was held on Friday, April 5, 2013 at 1 pm at the Bakken-Young Funeral Home in Maiden Rock.  Visitation was Thursday, April 4, 2013 from 4-8 pm at Bakken-Young and on Friday from 12-1 pm.  Interment was in the Maiden Rock Cemetery.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of Maiden Rock.
