Ruth M. McCance, age 91, of New Richmond passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Arthur Rose Assisted Living. As a long-time teacher in New Richmond, she taught History at the Middle School and at the High School. Ruth was an avid walker, and was seen walking all across town. Vacations and retirement were spent traveling. She traveled to Cuba, China, and all over the globe. She is survived by her son, Mark (Sandra) McCance; grandchildren, Rachel (Nate) Warner, Katie (Adam) Nelson, Jessica Parker, Spencer McCance; other cherished family and friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; and furry friends, Ruffey and Sadie. A memorial gathering to celebrate Ruth’s life was held Friday, December 15, 2017 from 3-7 pm at Bakken-Young Beebe Chapel (112 W 3rd St.) in New Richmond. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services Beebe Chapel of New Richmond.

We have many fond memories of Mark & Ruth celebrating Christmas at the McCances during the 60’s & 70’s. God Bless and we will remember you in our prayers.
Ruth McCance helped me learn to love history. She was one of those teachers who made a difference in the lives of so many. I remember her wonderful laugh when she would talk to me about tests and other school related things. May she rest in peace.
