Timothy Symes 05/12/2016

Timothy Lee Symes, age 70 of River Falls, WI passed away on May 12, 2016 in St. Paul, MN.   Born July 19, 1945 in Kent, WA. Attended Baldwin-Woodville Area High School [Class of 1965].  Preceded in death by his father James Symes and mother Anne Symes.  Survived by his children Kellie Murray [Mike Murray], Bryan Symes [Kristin Symes] and Kristin Vozzo [Mike Vozzo], grandchildren Brooke Murray, Elle Symes and Carter Symes, and his siblings Jeffrey Symes and Victoria Symes.  Tim was particularly passionate about his family, his classic cars, and conducting first-hand research for the next great Wisconsin foodie “off the beaten path” travelogue.  Tim will be remembered for many reasons—but mostly for his devotion to his family and friends, his quirky sense of humor, his love for God, and his penchant for music and artifacts from yesteryear [Glenn Miller Orchestra, antique clocks and radios, fuzzy dice, Jimmy Stewart]. His family loves him and will miss him dearly.  A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at 11:00AM at the First Baptist Church in River Falls, Wisconsin. Visitation will also be Tuesday from 10-11 AM at the church.  Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of River Falls.

I called Tim today to see how he’s doing but his phone number was disconnected. Searching his name and address on the internet brought me to Tim’s obituary. We were shocked to read of Tim’s passing. Watching the posted video brought back great memories. We first met in the year 2000 at Back to the 50’s in St. Paul. and struck up an instant friendship. We kept in touch by phone or at the car show. I enjoyed and respected Tim’s no frills and call it as you see it attitude. During our last conversation some time back he mentioned he had been sick but I had no idea it was that serious. My wife Joan and I would like to extend to his family our sincere condolences. Could one of his children email their phone number. I’d like to call and talk about his last few months. I’m certainly going to miss my friend from Wisconsin. He was a good guy with a big heart. Best regards from his friends in Canada Doug and Joan Middleton
