Ruby Samuelson 09/29/2011

Ruby H. Samuelson, age 88 of Plum City, WI, died Thursday, September 29, 2011 at the Plum City Care Center.  She was born the daughter of Waldemar and Henrietta (Johnson) Rundquist in the town of Stockholm, Pepin County, Wisconsin.  Ruby attended the Pleasant Corner School through the 8th grade.  She was married to Bernon Samuelson on February 20, 1943.  They spent their career farming Bernon’s family farm.  Ruby was very active as a quilter, in the ladies aid, and her bible study at Sabylund Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed baking, gardening, canning, and growing flowers.  She made many quilts, leaving her trademark pin in each one.  Ruby’s children and grandchildren were the most important things in her life.  Most of her fond memories revolved around family.  She was a kind woman with a good, though quiet, sense of humor.  Ruby was a patient teacher, teaching her many talents to her grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Waldemar and Henrietta Rundquist; husband, Bernon Samuelson; an infant daughter; and brother-in-law, Lyle Anderson.  Ruby is survived by her children, Gary (Jean) Samuelson and Randy (Deb) Samuelson; grandchildren, Brent(Lenna) Samuelson, Suzanne (Shane) Walstrom, Amanda (Cory) Whipkey, and Ryan (Michelle) Samuelson; great-grandchildren, Derek, Ashley, Brenna, and Emily Samuelson and Henry and Ellie Whipkey; step great-grandchildren, Cole and Kaylee Anklam; brothers, Ralph (Marie) Rundquist and  Wayne (Maxine) Rundquist; sisters, Marjorie Anderson and Bonnie (Les) Annen; and many nieces, nephews, relatives friends.  A Funeral Service was held on Sunday, October 2, 2011 at 2 pm at Sabylund Lutheran Church in Lund, WI.  Visitation was also on Sunday from 1-2 pm at the church.  Interment was in the Sabylund Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Brent Samuelson, Suzanne Walstrom, Amanda Whipkey, Ryan Samuelson, Derek Samuelson, Ashley Samuelson, and Emily Samuelson.  Memorials may be directed to Sabylund Lutheran Church.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of Maiden Rock.
