Joy Giese 09/21/2013

Joy Giese, age 73 of New Richmond, died on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Westfields Hospital in New Richmond.  Joy was born the daughter of Hansel and Oveila (Mullen) Baillargeon on August 18, 1940 in Star Prairie Township.  She grew up in rural Somerset and attended New Richmond High School.  On January 26, 1957, Joy married Don Giese.  Joy stayed home and raised their three children.  She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend.  In 1975, Don and Joy purchased Riverview Liquors which they owned and operated until Joy’s retirement in the late 90’s.  She was a member of First Lutheran Church and served on the Altar Guild.  She enjoyed playing cards, and was part of a few Bridge groups.  Joy also enjoyed golfing and gardening.  She was a warm, caring person with a kind heart.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Hansel and Oveila Baillargeon.  Joy is survived by her children, Scott (Nancy) Giese, Tammy (K.C. Kinsell) Allen, and Mike (Sandi Creel) Giese; grandchildren, Joel Giese, Tony Giese, Lori Giese, Michael Allen, Ryan Allen, Max Giese, Cailen Giese, Sam Giese and Sarah Mellerud; siblings, Jan (John) Hess, Gary (Bonnie) Baillargeon, Cheri (Jim) Gutting, Beth (Dick) Ulrich; aunts, Anne Ochs, Eleanor Johnson, and Olene Burkinshaw; and many nieces and nephews.  A Memorial Service was held on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at 11 am at First Lutheran Church 218 County Rd K New Richmond.  Visitation was also Thursday from 10-11 am at the church.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services Beebe Chapel of New Richmond.
