Jean Koukal 10/04/2014

Jean Koukal age 75 of River Falls died unexpectedly on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN.  Jean was born the daughter of John and Jessie (Donahe) Bell on December 18, 1938 in St. Paul, MN.  She attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School, graduating with the class of 1956.  Jean met her future husband at a dance and on April 4, 1959, she married Ernest Koukal in St. Paul Park, MN.  They lived on Grey Cloud Island, MN for 26 years.  In 1986, they moved to their property in the township of Martell near River Falls, Pierce County, Wisconsin.  Jean was a great dancer, loved to do outdoor chores, ride horse, and was a good bowler.  She was strong woman with a good sense of humor and quick wit.  Jean was an excellent cook and made the best potato salad.  She is preceded in death by her father, John G. Bell; son, Jon Scott Koukal; grandson, Michael S. Koukal; and sisters, Virginia Bell and Kathleen Bell.  Jean is survived by her husband, Ernest Koukal; children, Michael (Renee) Koukal, Patrick ( Kristen) Koukal, Daniel (Julie) Koukal, Robert (Denise) Koukal; mother, Jessie Bell; sister, Jacqueline (Louis) Haas; brother, John (Theresa) Bell; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.   A memorial service was held Friday, October 10, 2014 at 7:00 pm at the Bakken-Young Funeral Home 805 E Division Street River Falls.  Visitation was also Friday from 4:00-7:00 pm at the funeral home.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of River Falls.
