Franklyn “Jim” Venhor, age 72 of New Richmond, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 16, 2016 with his family by his side at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN. He was born to Frank and Helen Venhor on May 26, 1944 in Dodgeville, WI. Jim grew up in Phillips, WI where he graduated from Phillips High School and later graduated from U-W River Falls. On January 13, 1969, he married Sandra Steinberger in Norwood, IA. Jim worked as a carpenter for Bor-Son Construction for 35 years. He continued his passion for woodworking all throughout his retirement. He also enjoyed camping, campfires, and touring the campground on his golf cart. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. Jim was known for having “big” gardens full of flowers and vegetables, and took great pride in his immaculate lawn and trees. He loved his grandchildren dearly and cherished every moment spent with them. He will be missed by his wife, Sandy; children, Michael (Debbie) Grunlien, Todd (Clara) Grunlien, Stacie (Kevin) Jensen, Jacqueline Johnson, Mackenzie Venhor; grandchildren, Cameron Venhor, Kourtney Grunlien, Logan Jensen, Luke Jensen; sisters, Janee (Leon) Romatowski, Kathy (Phil) Strobl; special uncle, Jack (Bev) Cebery; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Helen Venhor; in-laws, Lee and Alberta Steinberger; and grandson, John Johnson, Jr. A memorial service was held Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 1:00 pm at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in New Richmond. Visitation was also  Saturday from 11:00-1:00 pm at the church. Interment was in the New Richmond Cemetery. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services Beebe Chapel of New Richmond.

    Sorry for your loss. Jim was a great guy and I am glad I got to have such a great talk with him during one of his treatments at Westfields.
