Eunice Larsen 02/23/2014

Eunice Larsen age 87 died Sunday, February 23, 2014 at Comforts of Home in Menomonie, WI.  She was born in New York Mills, MN on November 19, 1926 to Ernest and Senia (Bernu) Pohtilla.  As a young girl her family moved to Minneapolis, MN where she spent much of her life.  She was married to Luverne “Lars” Larsen in 1947.  From this union, they raised 4 children.  In 1972, they moved to Park Ridge, IL and stayed until Luverne’s retirement from the postal service.  They shared their time between Fort Myers Beach, FL and Siren, WI at their lake home.  They traveled extensively throughout the world, having visited every state in the union, and several trips to Europe to study their family trees.  After Luverne’s death in 2006, Eunice moved to Inver Grove Heights, MN and led an active life.  She was involved in several civic organizations, notably the VFW, American Legion, Scouts and Women of the Moose of Burnett County, in which she held many leadership positions.  She has been residing at Comforts of Home in Menomonie, WI since 2013. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.  Eunice in preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Luverne; son Gary Larsen; parents, Ernest and Senia Pohtilla; brother, Lloyd Pohtilla; and brother-in-law, Melvin Fisher.  She is survived by children, Dwight Larsen of Minneapolis, MN, Diane (Dennis) Guth of Menomonie, WI, Gail (Lowell) Jungers of Prior Lake, MN; grandchildren, Amy Thorson, Johnathan Schlottman, Ross (Anna) Jungers, Alane (Derrick) Madsen, Jenni Larsen;  8 great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Fisher; sister-in-law, Kathleen Pohtilla; many nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.  A funeral service was held Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 11:00 am at Bakken-Young Funeral Home in River Falls.  Visitation was also Saturday from 10-11 am at the funeral home.  Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in River Falls.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of River Falls.
