Dorothy Owen 03/06/2014

Dorothy Mable Owen, 94 of River Falls, died Thursday March 6 at Our House Senior Living in River Falls, WI.  Dorothy was born on August 24, 1919 to Richard and Ethel (Stewart) Weir. She married Gordon Owen on November 7, 1940 in Stillwater MN.

Dorothy was a woman who loved her family and life. Her first answer would be “no”, but upon reflection she would never pass up an opportunity. She worked and earned her Real Estate broker’s license in her 50’s and took classes to “learn how to send email” in her 70’s. She often travelled to her beloved NM to stay with her daughter and her family; and finally got to Hawaii to stand in the Pacific at the young age of 89.

She always saw the good in life and when faced with a challenge would say “And this too shall pass”.

She is survived by her three children; Carole (William – dec. 1-14) Tate of Grants NM; Don (Faye) Owen of Maiden Rock WI; and Wendy (Claire) Dusek of Roberts WI, 9 Grand-children and 12 Great Grand-children.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Gordy; her brother Don and his wife Joyce, and her son in law William.

The family would like to thank the staff at Our House Senior Living for the excellent care they provided Dorothy over the last two years.    

 A memorial service was held Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Bakken-Young Funeral Home.  Memorial visitation was also Wednesday from 1:00-2:00 pm at the funeral home.  Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of River Falls.
