Dorothy Johansson 05/17/2017

Dorothy Church Johansson, 95, passed away on May 17, 2017 after suffering a severe stroke. She had resided in the memory care unit of Comforts of Home in River Falls for the past 2.5 years.  Dorothy was born in Leominster, MA on Sept 21, 1921 to Arthur E. and Laura Rugg Church. She graduated from Leominster H.S.  in 1939, and in 1944  married Warren Johansson.  She and her husband of nearly 70 years raised three children in Amherst, MA. For most of the past 40 years she and her husband lived in Petersham, MA. She will be remembered for her grace, kindness and loving heart. She enjoyed singing in church, cooking, painting, braiding rugs, antiquing and trips to Quebec.  Dorothy is preceded in death by her  husband Warren and son Frederick. She is survived by son Peter Johansson (Monika) and daughter Sally Bergland (Mark), both of River Falls.  She will be missed by her family, including grandchildren Stephanie, Sylvia, David and Laurel, and four great-grandchildren, Sandrine, William, Jade and Kadence.  After a private ceremony she will be interred at the Woodside Cemetery Westminster, MA.  The family thanks the many wonderful people at Comforts of Home who lovingly cared for Dorothy.  We also thank the doctors, nurses and staff at United Hospital, Allina  Hospice, and American Heritage Home in Hammond for their special care.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of River Falls.
